The person behind the name.
I’ve been working with businesses in Central Wisconsin for a long time. Now let me tell you what I’m actually about.

The moment everything stopped – and everything changed.
In July of 2024, a motorcycle accident took me out of the work world overnight. No meetings. No deadlines. Just stillness — and a lot of time to reflect.
When you’re forced to pause like that, you stop asking what do I do? and start asking what actually matters?
I have spent over 20 years in marketing, PR and HR — corporate, local, media-driven. I have won a WAMI award for a commercial I wrote, produced, and directed. I have worked in agriculture, healthcare, real estate, construction, automotive, retail, and more. I know what works. I know what doesn’t. And I was done watching good, hardworking business owners get taken advantage of.
"I feel like I’m throwing money to the wind."
I started Pookie Rosa Marketing because that fear is valid — and because small business owners deserve better. A place to sit down, ask real questions, and get real answers. Even when the answer is “don’t spend your money on that.”
Especially then.

Marketing doesn’t have to be intimidating.
Somewhere along the way, marketing became overwhelming. You’re supposed to know SEO, social media, ads, analytics — and if you don’t, someone’s happy to charge you for the privilege of staying confused.
I believe in removing the barriers of intimidation. I believe in making marketing transparent, affordable, and accessible. I believe you should understand every single dollar you spend — and if you don’t, that’s on me to explain it better.
I’m not a voice on the phone from another state. I’m your neighbor. I shop where you shop, eat where you eat, and my reputation depends on doing right by the people in this community.
No predatory contracts. No hidden fees. No saying yes to everything just to close a deal. If something isn’t right for your business, I’ll tell you.
My goal isn’t to make you dependent on me. It’s to make sure you understand what you’re paying for, why it matters, and how to make smart decisions for your business — with or without me.
Your partner, not another vendor.
I’m not here to sell you a package. I’m here to understand your business when it comes to marketing, PR, and HR. I am here to figure out what you actually need and eliminate the guessing.
I’ve built a network of trusted local vendors — graphic designers, web developers, printers, social media specialists, photographers, and many more — people I’ve worked with and trust personally. I don’t just hand out names. Everyone in my network is someone I’d send my own family to. And if you just need guidance? I’ll teach you. Seminars, one-on-one training, whatever it takes. You’ll walk away understanding your marketing — not more confused than when you started.
Roots, resilience, and a murder of crows.
I'm the proud daughter of a Puerto Rican father who served in the U.S. Army. Growing up in a military family meant moving every few years: new places, new people, new cultures. When my father died while in service, I was 15. It taught me resilience early, but more importantly, it taught me the value of connection — how fragile it is, and how essential.
Behind that loss was one of the most remarkable women I've ever met. My mother raised the three of us on her own, worked multiple jobs to put us through school, and 30 years ago opened her own licensed adult family care home right here in Central Wisconsin. She is the reason I believe in entrepreneurship — and the reason I've never been afraid to build something from scratch.
That upbringing taught me how to read rooms, listen deeply, and build trust from scratch. My passion for communication didn't come from a classroom — it came from lived experience.
I was born in Chicago and came to Wisconsin when I was 6. I've been here over 35 years. My husband and I raised our six boys right here in Stevens Point, and Central Wisconsin is home in every sense of the word.
When I'm not working, you'll find me kayaking, birdwatching, gardening, or traveling, not to escape, but to learn. My husband and I explore the world through cooking. I'm a visible supporter of our LGBTQ+ community, and I volunteer with our unhoused and veteran populations. Everything comes back to people and connection.

About the crows.
People ask. So here it is.
Crows are deeply intelligent, fiercely communal, and entirely communication-driven. A murder of crows “adopted” me years ago, and they’ve been my quiet companions ever since. They remind me that success doesn’t happen in isolation — it happens through cooperation, awareness, and trust.
That belief carries through everything I do. If I can help another human being along their journey by offering clarity, honesty, or simply listening — that’s where I want to be.
Because when small businesses succeed, communities thrive.
And that’s the only kind of marketing I’m interested in.
Let’s grab coffee.
I mean it. The first conversation is free, and I’d rather meet you in person than trade emails back and forth. Let’s sit down and talk about your business.
